Game Mechanics

Everything you need to know about sneakers, attributes, the energy system, gems, mystery boxes, and HP management in STEPN OG.

Sneaker Types

Each sneaker has an optimal speed range. Move within this range to earn tokens.

Warning

If you move outside your sneaker's speed range, your earning efficiency drops dramatically. A Runner sneaker earns nothing when you walk.

Walker

1–6 km/h

GST efficiency at slow pace

Best for casual users who prefer a gentle walk. Low earning rate but easy to maintain.

Jogger

4–10 km/h

Balanced earning

Great all-rounder for most users. Covers jogging pace and earns efficiently.

Runner

8–20 km/h

Higher token output

For dedicated runners. Higher earnings potential per energy unit at running speeds.

Trainer

1–20 km/h

Max flexibility

Covers all speeds. Most versatile — ideal for users who vary their pace, but tends to cost more.

The 4 Attributes

Each sneaker has 4 core attributes. When you level up, you get attribute points to distribute. Quality (Common → Uncommon → Rare → Epic → Legendary) determines the base stat range.

Efficiency

Directly affects GST token earnings per energy. Higher efficiency = more tokens earned per session. The primary attribute for GST farming.

Invest all extra points while GST farming

Luck

Affects mystery box drop rate and quality. Higher luck = more frequent and higher-quality mystery boxes (which contain gems and scrolls).

Invest extra points alongside Efficiency for mystery box bonuses

Comfort

Affects GMT token earnings. Required for unlocking GMT farming mode (Level 30+ sneaker required). Also improves passive HP regeneration slightly.

Resilience

Reduces HP loss per session, lowering repair costs. Each point of Resilience reduces durability damage. Critical for cost-effective long-term play.

Energy System

Energy is the daily earning cap mechanism. 1 energy = 5 minutes of earning time.

Info

Energy recharges at 25% every 6 hours (4 times per day). Maximum energy is capped based on sneaker count (up to 20 energy with 30 sneakers at the Legendary tier).

HP (Durability) System

Sneakers lose HP (Hitpoints / Durability) with every session. At lower HP, earning efficiency decreases significantly.

Tip

Repair your sneaker with GST when HP drops below 50 to maintain full earnings. High Resilience attribute reduces HP loss rate.

Gems & Sockets

Gems are NFTs that slot into sneaker sockets to boost attributes. Gems can be upgraded by combining lower-level gems with GST/GMT.

Lv 1–3No gem slotsBasic sneakers start unlocking slots at level 5.
Lv 51 socketUnlock your first gem socket. Efficiency/Luck/Comfort/Resilience gem.
Lv 102 socketsSecond socket unlocks. More flexibility in builds.
Lv 153 socketsThird socket.
Lv 204 socketsAll 4 sockets unlocked. Full gem build possible.

Warning

Gem upgrade success is not guaranteed. Higher-level gem upgrades have lower success rates. Failed upgrades consume the gems and GST. Factor this risk into your strategy.
