What is Move-to-Earn?

Move-to-Earn (M2E) is a Web3 concept pioneered by STEPN where physical activity is rewarded with cryptocurrency tokens. While the STEPN app is free to download, earning tokens requires owning an NFT sneaker purchased on the in-app marketplace using cryptocurrency (SOL, BNB, or GMT). Entry-level sneakers have historically cost around $50–$300 depending on market conditions.

STEPN GO follows the same model — the app is free to explore, but earning GGT tokens requires an NFT sneaker. Both apps offer a free-to-try experience, but active earners must invest upfront in a sneaker.
