GO Mechanics
A complete breakdown of STEPN GO's game mechanics: the GGT token, Stones/Gems System, updated sneaker attributes, and the Polygon blockchain integration.
GGT — The GO Game Token
Info
GGT is a separate token from GST. They have independent prices and markets. Both apps share GMT as the underlying governance token but through different bridged versions (sGMT for Solana, pGMT for Polygon).
Stones/Gems System
STEPN GO replaces STEPN OG's gem system with Stones. These function similarly — socketing into sneaker slots to boost attributes — but have a rebranded leveling and crafting system.
Warning
Like gems in STEPN OG, Karma stone upgrades are not guaranteed. Higher tier stone upgrades have lower success rates. Budget for failed upgrade attempts.
Blockchain: Polygon (POL)
Unlike STEPN OG which supports SOL, BNB, and POL, STEPN GO operates on Polygon (formerly MATIC). This offers significantly lower transaction fees compared to Polygon, making small in-app purchases and upgrades more cost-effective.
Sneaker Quality Tiers
STEPN GO uses the same quality progression as STEPN OG:
Higher quality sneakers have better base stat ranges. An Epic sneaker will have 4× the base stats of a Common, with correspondingly higher market price. Start with Common or Uncommon to minimize entry cost.
