Get Started with STEPN
Everything you need to go from zero to earning your first tokens. Follow these 5 simple steps.
Step 01
Download the App
Download STEPN OG or STEPN GO from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Both apps are free to download.
Tip
STEPN OG is the original app supporting SOL, BNB, and POL chains. STEPN GO is the newer app with the GGT token, supporting only POL and social features.
Step 02
Get an Activation Code
New users need an activation code to access the app. Codes are shared every Sunday at 12PM UTC on the official STEPN Twitter (@Stepnofficial) and Discord server.
Tip
You can also receive a code from an existing STEPN user.
Step 03
Buy Your First Sneaker
Purchase an NFT sneaker from the STEPN in-app marketplace. Common sneakers are the most affordable entry point. Each sneaker has a type (Walker/Jogger/Runner/Trainer) and a speed range you must stay within to earn.
Tip
Import SOL, BNB, or POL into your in-app wallet first. For beginners, a Common quality Jogger or Trainer sneaker is recommended for its flexibility.
Step 04
Start Moving & Earn
Open the app outdoors, ensure GPS signal is strong, then tap the play button. Walk or run within your sneaker's speed range. Energy is consumed while active — each energy point = 5 minutes of earning time.
Tip
Start with 1–2 energy (10 minutes). Beginners get 2 energy by default. Energy recharges 25% every 6 hours.
Step 05
Earn & Manage Tokens
Earn GST (STEPN OG) or GGT (STEPN GO) tokens with each session. Use tokens to repair your sneaker's durability, upgrade gems, mint new sneakers, or withdraw to an external wallet.
Tip
Always repair your sneaker before HP drops below 50% to prevent accelerating durability loss. At 0 HP, no tokens are earned.
